Multivitamins are essential to a healthy, active, enjoyable life. With the pace of life being so fast, and unhealthy food being so readily available, a multivitamin can bridge the gap between what we eat and what we should eat. Deficiencies of common vitamins and minerals can lead to such serious effects as hallucinations, growth problems and neurological problems. The regular use of a multivitamin can prevent these, and many other problems.
When taken by pregnant women, multi-vitamins can provide many vitamins and minerals (such as folic acid) that may not be readily available through other sources. When taken in adequate quantities, they have been proven to reduce the risk of certain neural tube birth defects. Neural tube defects are serious birth defects that can affect both the brain (such as anencephaly) and spine (such as spinal bifida).
